THE SENT WORD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
(Abc Global Daily Devotional)
2026-The Year Of The Word
Date: 31st January 2026
Topic: Alignment in Prayer through the Spirit
Scripture Reading:
1 John 5:14 (NKJV)
“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”
Romans 8:26 (NKJV)
“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”
Key Thought:
Effective prayer is not powered by effort alone, but by alignment with God’s will through His Spirit.
Today’s Message:
No human being can become anything of true worth without the help of a spirit. Every truly great man you see is propped up by spiritual assistance. Greatness is not a natural factor in the realm of men; it is a common spiritual reality accessed by men. Help itself is purely spiritual. No mortal dabbles into it without a spirit intentionally exporting it to their realm. This factor you will find in every mortal you ever see operate and enjoy within the sphere of nature.
Mortals are inferior to spirits, angels were created with superior substance, carrying a measure of glory and effulgence that causes atmospheres to tremble when they arrive. The advantages of their being and realm is simply because God made it so.
Spirits operate based on their interest and alignment. This is why prayers to God are not answered simply because we pray or that we speak commanding and compelling words, but because we pray to first of all reflect humility and loyalty to God, and that we pray according to His will. Scripture makes this clear: “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”(1st John 5:14-15). The concept here is that, we don’t offer what we want, acknowledging in all humility that our interests is inferior to His. We offer the prayer he wills.
Prayer without alignment with His will may be sincere, but, will be ineffective, and mere religiousity.
The challenge, however, is that man does not naturally know how to pray according to God’s will. This is why Scripture calls it an infirmity: “And the Spirit likewise helpeth our infirmities: For we do not know what we should pray for, as we ought” (Romans 8:26). This infirmity is not merely weakness, it is a limitation of spiritual knowledge and understanding. It is a failure to answer the question of “WHAT” and “HOW.”
God, in His mercy, provides help for our weakness in prayer through His Spirit. Romans 8:26 makes it clear that we often do not know what to pray for as we ought. This weakness is not only a limitation of knowledge, but also of spiritual discernment and capacity. However, the Spirit Himself comes to our aid.
Just as only a man knows what is in his own heart (1 Corinthians 2:11), so only the Spirit knows the heart of the Father. Therefore, the Spirit reveals to us what is in the Father’s heart for us and teaches us how to engage them in prayer.
Left to ourselves, we would often pray amiss, guided by emotions, ignorance, or self-interest. But through the Spirit’s intercession and guidance, our prayers are aligned with God’s will.
One of the ways the Holy Spirit helps us is by emphasizing or quickening a particular truth in the Word of God. When that Word comes alive in your spirit, your prayer becomes accurate. Prayer, guided by the Spirit and anchored in the Word, brings you into divine agreement with God’s desires.
At this point, prayer is no longer guesswork, struggles nor humanly; it is communion shaped by revelation. The Word provides direction, the Spirit provides interpretation, and prayer becomes participation in the divine.
When the Holy Spirit helps your infirmity, your prayers gain precision, power, and prophetic relevance.
Prayer
Father, help me to pray according to Your will. Let Your Spirit guide my intercession and align my heart with Yours. Deliver me from praying amiss and teach me to pray accurately, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Declaration
I pray in alignment with the will of God.
The Spirit of God helps me in my weakness.
My prayers are effective, accurate, and powerful.
I find the heart of the Father through the help of the Holy Ghost.
