THE SENT WORD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
(ABC Global Daily Devotional)
2026 – The Year Of The Word
Date: 25th February, 2026
Topic: Living by Every Word
Scripture Reading:
Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
Deuteronomy 8:3 (NKJV)
“So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.”
Key Thought:
True life is sustained not by physical provisions alone, but by every word that proceeds from God’s mouth.
Today’s Message:
Yesterday, we established that the Word of God is the greatest treasure heaven can give. Today, we go deeper: the Word is not just a treasure to possess; it is the very substance by which we live.
Matthew 4:4 reveals a principle that governs all existence: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” This statement was spoken by Jesus in the wilderness, in a moment of physical hunger and spiritual testing. The devil tempted Him to turn stones into bread, to satisfy immediate need through independent action. But Jesus refused. He understood that life is not sustained by what you can produce in your own strength, but by what proceeds from the mouth of God.
Notice the phrase “every word.” Not some words. Not selected words. Every word. This means no word from God is insignificant. No instruction is optional. No revelation is irrelevant. Every word carries life, direction, and divine intent. To live by every word is to live in total dependence on God’s continuous utterance, not yesterday’s provision.
Deuteronomy 8:3 provides context. Israel was in the wilderness, and God allowed them to hunger. This was not punishment; it was preparation. He humbled them so they would learn a fundamental truth: man does not live by bread alone. The manna they ate daily was a physical picture of a spiritual reality. Just as manna had to be gathered fresh every morning, so must the Word of God be received continually. Yesterday’s bread cannot sustain today’s life. Yesterday’s Word cannot navigate today’s battles.
This is why many believers struggle. They are living off old words, past encounters, former revelations. But life demands fresh bread. Your current season requires a current word. Your present challenge demands present instruction. God’s Word is not static; it proceeds. It flows. It is alive and active.
To live by every word means you are listening, not just reading. You are attentive, not just informed. You are responsive, not just knowledgeable. The Word proceeding from God’s mouth is dynamic. It speaks into your specific situation, addresses your immediate need, and directs your next step.
The tragedy today is that many believers live by bread alone. They trust their jobs, their skills, their networks, their strategies. These are not wrong, but they are insufficient. Bread sustains the body, but only the Word sustains the spirit. And when your spirit is weak, no amount of bread will bring fulfillment, direction, or victory.
Beloved, this Year of the Word is calling you into a lifestyle of continuous dependence on God’s proceeding Word. Do not live on past experiences. Do not rely solely on natural provision. Position yourself daily to hear what God is saying now. His Word is your bread. His voice is your sustenance. His instruction is your life.
When you live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God, you live above lack, above confusion, above defeat. You walk in divine alignment, sustained by heaven’s supply, directed by eternal wisdom.
Prayer:
Father, teach me to live by every word that proceeds from Your mouth. Help me not to depend on bread alone but to hunger daily for fresh revelation from You. Let my spirit be attentive to Your voice. Give me grace to obey every instruction, follow every direction, and align my life with Your proceeding Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Declaration:
I do not live by bread alone.
I live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
I receive fresh revelation daily.
My spirit is sustained by His Word.
I am aligned with heaven.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
