Topic: Hearing Ears and Seeing Eyes (Part 3: Seeing Eyes and Divine Order)

Today’s Message:
Today, we consider the third part of the Hearing Ears and Seeing Eyes series. Previously, we established that the foundation of the Christian faith is beholding Christ: “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).

However, it is important to state that while Christ remains the ultimate object of our beholding, God also appoints men and women as patterns through whom we learn divine order, discipline, and undergo spiritual formation.

God is a God of order. Whatever He intends to accomplish in a life, He follows divine order.

When Moses fled Egypt, he ended up in Midian at the house of Jethro. Jethro was not only a shepherd but also a priest. It was there that Moses was exposed to priestly order before God revealed Himself to him in power. Moses’ calling did not bypass order.

Jesus Himself submitted to order. Before the commencement of His earthly ministry, He was found in the temple, listening and asking questions of the teachers of the Law. Though He was the Son of God, He honoured divine process.

When Paul encountered Christ on the road to Damascus, he truly saw Jesus, yet he was instructed by the same Christ to submit to divine order. Though the risen Christ appeared to him directly, Paul was told to go to Ananias to receive sight and direction. This teaches us that spiritual encounters, no matter how great and glorious, do not cancel spiritual order. Before Paul could see clearly and run with accuracy, God positioned a man to help him see. Only after his sight was restored could he step into the fullness of his calling.

We need humility and seeing eyes to behold those God has placed as models and guides. Though Christ remains the ultimate object of our beholding, yet He reveals Himself through vessels He has ordained.

It took years of formation, instruction, and submission before Paul could articulate the revelations that now constitute a significant portion (67percent) of the New Testament. He didn’t jet off to function on the strength of that encounter alone. He submitted Himself to divine order.

Every believer must therefore learn to behold those God has set as examples. These are men and women strategically positioned to model Christ and guide us into maturity. Seeing eyes are required, not just to recognize them, but to discern what God wants you to learn from them.

No matter how great the calling, haste without formation is dangerous. Apostle Paul himself charged believers:
“Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1st Corinthians 11:1).

Christ is the ultimate pattern, but He reveals Himself through people. Scripture calls Him the firstborn among many brethren(Romans 8:29). Firstborn implies others follow.

A powerful detail in Moses’ burning bush encounter is found in Exodus 3:4. God did not speak immediately. Scripture says “when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him.”
God waited until Moses saw properly before He spoke.

Hebrews 13:7 shows us so vividly what to look out for as we behold our leaders. The Lord calls us to follow their faith by carefully considering the fruit of their walk with God; their consistency, character, endurance, and submission to Christ, and then patterning our own lives after that same dependence on God, not just copying actions but embracing their convictions and devotion.

We concluded the previous devotional by saying who you behold determines what you become. When we see correctly, we will preserve our destiny.

Prayer:
Father, grant me seeing eyes and a humble heart. Deliver me from haste and self-will. Teach me to behold You rightly and to recognize those You have sent to model Christ to me. Order my steps, align my vision, and form Christ in me as I submit to Your process. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Declaration:
My eyes are opened to see rightly.
I behold Christ and those He has set before me.
I walk in divine order, humility, and alignment.
I am formed correctly, and I enter my season prepared.
