Topic: Hearing Ears and Seeing Eyes (Part 2: Seeing Eyes)

Today’s Message:
Our previous devotional emphasized the necessity of hearing ears in this Year of the Word. We established that spiritual hearing is non-negotiable for alignment and direction. Today, we turn our focus to the second vital requirement: seeing eyes.
Scripture makes it clear that both the hearing ear and the seeing eye are fashioned by the Lord for divine communication. They are spiritual gates. One without the other produces imbalance. Hearing provides direction; seeing produces transformation.
Our anchor scripture, 2 Corinthians 3:18, highlights the power of beholding. The foundation of our Christian walk lies in our ability to behold Christ: “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2). Take note of the word used: “looking.” It is a present-continuous expression, revealing that beholding is not a one-time event but an ongoing discipline that demands sustained focus and intentionality. We must keep our gaze fixed on Him.
What we repeatedly hear has the power to generate faith: “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). But what we consistently behold has the power to conform us. Scripture reveals that as we behold His glory, we are transformed into the same image.
The apostle John reinforces this truth when he declares:
“We know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2).
Seeing precedes becoming. We behold until we are formed.
Moses beheld God on the mountain, and when he descended, he radiated the glory he had seen, so much so that the children of Israel could not look upon him. This teaches us that glory is transferable through beholding.
Psalm 34:5 further buttresses this truth: “They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.” Constant beholding is the antidote to shame. Glory and shame cannot coexist, just as light and darkness cannot occupy the same space. Those who consistently behold Him radiate His glory, and where glory is present, shame is absent.
Beloved, in this Year of the Word, let us make a conscious decision to keep our eyes fixed on Him. Who you behold determines what you become.
Prayer:
Father, I fix my gaze on You. Grant me grace to continually behold Christ without distraction. Open the eyes of my understanding, that as I look upon Your glory, I may be transformed into Your image. Keep my vision pure, my focus steady, and my heart aligned with what You are revealing in this season. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Declaration:
My eyes are fixed on the Lord.
As I behold His glory, I am transformed from glory to glory.
I radiate His light, and shame has no place in my life.
