THE SENT WORD DAILY DEVOTIONAL
(ABC Global Daily Devotional)
2026—The Year Of The Word
Date: 11th February 2026
Topic: Knowing God’s Ways Behind His Acts
Scripture Reading:
Exodus 15:8 (KJV) – “And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.”
Psalm 103:7 (KJV) – “He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.”
Key Thought:
Those who seek God’s heart will understand His ways; those who only seek His acts witness temporary manifestations without insight into His eternal purposes.
Today’s Message:
God operates on two levels: His ways, which are the hidden, sustainable methods of His kingdom, and His acts, which are the visible demonstrations of His power. Those who focus only on His acts see fleeting results, they witness miracles, victories, and blessings, but fail to understand the heart behind them. His ways are like the backend, while His acts are like the front end.
The Israelites at the Red Sea are a perfect example. They marveled at the parting of the waters, celebrating the miracle, yet many did not understand the heart behind it. They sought God’s hand but not His heart. Moses, however, understood God’s ways. He knew it was the blast of God’s nostrils that parted the Red Sea, not the staff in his hand (Exodus 15:8). The miracle was a great manifestation of God’s power, but there was a heart behind the hand. The heart behind the hand is what Moses sought.
Matters of eternal and generational significance cannot be entrusted to those who merely seek God’s hand. They are like people who drink from a well or fountain, quench their thirst, and depart without caring from whence the water came, how the water flows or is purified.
Psalm 103:7 reinforces this: God “made known His ways unto Moses, His acts unto the children of Israel.” Acts are for those who are satisfied with surface experiences, those content to remain in the outer court. Ways, however, are for those who desire understanding, teaching, and a sustainable life that reflects God’s kingdom. They are for sons, for people like Paul who said, “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” (Philippians 3:10). Sons stick around, ask questions, seek answers. Visitors only come for food and drink, and depart once their immediate need is met. Those who only seek His hand never find His heart, but those who seek His heart always find His hand.
The Apostle Paul was another man who understood God’s ways. Even though he lived over a millennium after Moses and the Israelites crossed the Red Sea, he recognized that the Rock that followed the children of Israel in the wilderness—the One who provided drink and guidance—was Christ Himself (1 Corinthians 10:4). Understanding God’s ways does not come from casual engagement. These revelations are for those who earnestly seek His heart.
Beloved, it is one thing to witness God’s acts, and another to know His ways. Seek His heart. Study His Word deeply. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you the principles behind every miracle, every open door, and every act of salvation. Sustainable victory and spiritual insight are birthed in understanding God’s ways, not merely in observing His acts.
Prayer:
Father, help me to seek Your heart above all else. Teach me Your ways so that I may understand the source, the method, and the purpose behind Your acts. Let me not be satisfied with only seeing Your hand, but may I discern Your mind and walk in Your truth, in Jesus’ name.
Declaration:
I seek God’s heart, not only His acts.
I understand His ways and align my life with His methods.
I walk in insight, wisdom, and sustainable victory.
The miracles and acts of God in my life are grounded in His eternal ways.
